Family Resource Programs

On Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 am-11:30am, the family resource program takes place at the Harbourview Elementary School classroom at 960 Lillian Street, Coquitlam. This limited space allows for parents and their young children (aged birth to 4 years) to engage with other children and their parents in story times, art activities, dramatic play and a nutritious snack time together.  Parents are encouraged to participate in the programming and to relax while meeting new friends in their community.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30am-11:30am, we are at the Old Orchard Hall at 646 Bentley Road in Port Moody. This hall allows for a large group of children and their parents or childcare providers to engage in large muscle activities of climbing, learning to ride trikes and running in programming along with a rich art and story time, which are well received by the diverse age group of children from aged birth to 4 years.

*NEW* Starting October 2011 a new Family Resource Program will be operating from 10:00 - 11:30 at the Scout's Hall at 1000 Winslow Avenue in Blue Mountain Park.  This large space allows for young children between the ages of birth to 4 years to engage in large muscle play as well as story times and art activities while their parents and caregivers are able to network and connect with others as they learn about resources and programs in their neighbourhood.

All of the Family Resource Programs are facilitated by an experienced Early Childhood Educator and supported through United Way of the Lower Mainland.

Workshop and Presentations

There are many presentations, workshops and guests that come to the Family Resource Programs that are specific to children's development; speech and language, occupational therapy, nutrition, play ideas, toilet training, dental hygiene, just to name a few.

Thanks to a grant from the BC Association of Family Resource Programs we are pleased to announce an increased partnership capacity in the implementation of many new upcoming workshops this year. We are pleased to work in partnership with Westcoast Family Services and the Tri-City Family Place as we implement Mother Goose Trainings for parents at the Family Resource Room along with many Proactive Approaches to Challenging Behaviours Workshop... a highly attended and informative workshop for all ages!
